4xPaws Hosts Successful Inaugural Community Dog Crawl in Cookham

Around 40 people joined 4xPaws on Friday evening for Cookham’s first Dog Crawl - a relaxed, community-led event celebrating dogs, local businesses and the connection between young adults and “man’s best friend”.

The crawl brought together dog owners, families, local supporters and community figures including Madam Mayor, Councillor Siân Martin of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, alongside the former Mayor and other local guests.

As a one-off addition to help some of our wonderful older supporters enjoy the evening comfortably, the event also featured a rickshaw experience provided by Cycling Without Age Maidenhead, to whom 4xPaws extends huge thanks for their support and community spirit.

However, the real focus of the evening - and at the heart of the 4xPaws value proposition - was the joy of seeing dogs, owners and responsible young adults interacting so naturally together in a calm, enriching and community-focused environment.

4xPaws was created to provide attentive, enriching dog walking experiences while also creating meaningful opportunities for young adults to work with and care for dogs in a positive, structured and community-led setting.

Throughout the evening, dogs remained calm, relaxed and engaged, with owners and walkers giving thoughtful attention to space, pacing and comfort levels. The event featured treats, enrichment moments, a paw print station, branded goodies, photo opportunities with the now much photographed 4xPaws dog standee and plenty of happy interaction between humans and dogs alike.

Speaking at the launch, Madam MayorCouncillor Siân Martin described 4xPaws as “a fantastic new business with a fresh vision, great energy, and a strong commitment to our community.”

She also praised the business as “a Gen Z-powered enterprise creating meaningful opportunities for young adults beginning their employment and career journeys.”

Founder Helen Steel said:

“What struck us most during the evening was the genuine joy of seeing young adults, dog owners and dogs interacting so naturally together. There was such a warm atmosphere throughout the crawl and it really reinforced what 4xPaws is all about community, connection, enrichment and trusted care.

We’ve had some wonderful feedback since the event, including people stopping us in the street to ask about our value proposition and future plans for 4xPaws.”

The launch has already attracted coverage and support from Maidenhead Advertiser, Slough Observer, Bucks Free Press, Round & About Magazine, Marlow FM, That’s TV and the Cookham parish community, helping generate strong local interest ahead of the event.

Following the success of the inaugural crawl, 4xPaws is now excited to welcome its first customers (and their humans), while onboarding and training its first group of young adult walkers ahead of operational launch in June.

KThe business is also developing new community partnerships, exploring future events and continuing to expand its enrichment-focused approach following the overwhelmingly positive response to the Dog Crawl.

With new dogs, new walkers and new collaborations already on the horizon, it’s now four paws ahead for the next chapter of 4xPaws.
